Metformin is a very old, found 1920s to reduce blood sugar, but for the next couple of decades it was vanished due to research for another anti-diabetic drugs like insulin. Rare: hard to particular concentrator, behavior modification-similar to being drunk, drowsiness, lacking of strength, unusual and restless sleeping.
Metformin doesn't raise the risk for the notorious lactic acidosis while earlier it was very rare and complicated. Metformin prevents heart attacks and reduce coronary deaths in T1 Diabetes as shown in below figure:
